I think perlite and sand are also too wet. Try pumice or rock. I use a mix of about 2/3 pumice with some larger bark and wood particles.... that seems to do the trick. I've never seen them in the wild, but I suspect those that come from wetter areas grow right out of cracks in huge rocks etc. Moisture from condensation is indeed likely to contribute to the problem. If a lot of moisture can get into the crown, dry soil doesn't matter as much anymore. Also, hardiness varies from species to species. Do you know where yours were collected? Good luck! I hope at least a couple plants live.

First of all.... they're dead. You could hang onto them, but I'd be really surprised if they're not.
