The slope might help as no water seems to ever collect in the crown. No damage to Aechmia recurvata, which amazes me. Gotta propagate that one as a "keeper" before something bad happens to it.

This is the 2nd winter that it has gotten scorched, but it is alive. What happens is necrotic tissues die and leave scars on the leaves, but the leaves are overall alive. After its first flush of growth last year, the damage wasn't too obvious. No crown rot for which I am grateful, despite incredible amounts of rain.
