thanks for the kind words---my guess is that metrosideros umbellata is probably the most likely species to try but apparantly seed has a very short viability so the seed i got from n.z. tree seeds didnt do anything. also, most of the n.z. christmas trees do not bloom as young plants so any seedlings might take a long time to do the flowering we would be growing them for in the first place. if someone did have a flowering size umbellata and would allow cuttings to be taken, we might be going places....
