nice pics of a beautiful tree---i am getting to the point where i define a " really cold winter" in our area as one where established dealbata and cordyline australis are badly damaged or killed to the ground. any winter that doesnt do that is o.k. no matter how much snow or frost we get. i would say that the presence of healthy large plants of these 2 species is a good indicator of relaibly milder (zone 8/9)parts of the pnw.
