Posted by Ian, Poulsbo WA on May 1, 2007, 1:31 pm Dead (or at least frozen to the ground): Grevillea 'Poorinda Royal Mantle', G. 'Bronze Rambler', G. 'Poorinda Golden Lyre', Callistemon macropunctatus, large Araucaria bidwillii, Acacia rubida, Cordyline banksii (growing back already). Maybe dead, too soon to call yet: Grevillea 'austraflora fanfare', G. shiresii, Callistemon montanus Alive with little or no damage: All other Grevilleas (including G. aquifolium, 'Ruby Clusters', various forms of lavandulacea, alpina, victoriae, juniperina, etc.), all other Callistemons, smaller Araucaria bidwillii, A. angustifolia, Acacia pravissima, A. dealbata var subalpina (except the one that fell over), Fuchsia excorticata, Crinodendron hookerianum, Cordyline indivisa (fingers crossed). So far Grevillea aquifolium (red form) is the hardiest of the toothbrush-flowered (oak-leafed) Grevilleas for me, but there are many more I would like to try. I will try to produce/propagate more of it, but it is a slow grower. I'm pretty disappointed with 'Poorinda Royal Mantle' and 'Austraflora Fanfare', but they might do better in a drier part of the region with better drainage.

After last winter, It's finally warmed up enough for me to tell what's alive and what's dead...
