GB will always be handicapped by it"s ownership situation. No smack intended. The rest of the league has ownership that can dig deep and manipulate the cap... GB plays the cap pretty straight BC it has to. If they go all in for free agents and fudge the cap, it could lead to a cash crisis.
It is admirable that GB is able to sustain itself how they do. Almost zero impact free agents, the majority of the roster is young guys on their 1 st contract. It means an awful lot has to go right in a given season for GB to make a Superbowl.
To Gb's credit, much of the league has learned from GB, that developing mid and late draft picks is a key component to winning. 20 years ago, I think GB was one of the few teams that valued a 7th round pick as a key future contributor. The rest of the league has since learned that lesson, which further handicaps the pack.
There's a lot to admire about GB accomplishing what it has post merger, post free agency and cap era, inspire of it's ownership situation. As a Viking fan, I might even tell you as much daily if it weren't for the boorish behavior of some of your hater fans.
Oh well, haters gotta hate, manchild's never grow up.
