I also think that Belichek is a very good coach.
I also think that injuries & luck factor in. Two years ago, the Packers had Seattle owned and probably would have beaten the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, bad luck, boneheaded plays by players, and too conservative playcalling blew that game.
I do think that Belichek fills gaps with Free Agents better, but he has to more because Thompson drafts better. I also think that those Free Agents succeed because they are in New England - a number of those free agents wouldn't be worth much in other places.
