He definitely didn't contribute immediately. Actually did he even contribute at all?
Brandon Jackson - Second round pick, remember him?
Once again, I don't recall him contributing much.
Johnathan Franklin - Fourth Round draft pick, remember him?
Now, I realize he had a career ending injury before he got a real chance, however, he was a recent draft pick and didn't contribute much.
My thought is; counting on a drafted RB to contribute immediately, well that's a risk. The above information proves its actually a huge risk! Lacy was the only recent Packers RB whom contributed (full time basis) his rookie year! Lacy was drafted in the second round, so do we plan on using a 1st Round pick on a RB? Doubtful, so I also feel it's doubtful any of their remaining draft picks in 2017 will net an RB whom can contribute immediately on a full time basis!
Lacy had 5.0 YPC - Yet the Packers were struggling immensely the beginning of the year! I think the reason Lacy was averaging 5.0+ YPC was because teams were giving us the run, go ahead run, but AR is not beating us!
I was hoping Lacy would come back to rookie form at the beginning of last year, it was easy to see, he was still over weight and too slow yet!
Expect Lacy to come into his fourth year and be in better shape/faster than last year - pretty silly, wishful thinking!
GO ahead and bring Lacy back, I didn't say sign a VET for a huge contract, just someone else, so we're not counting the whole season on a guy whom may (MAY, not a guarantee) be interested in getting back into playing shape,.. Finally!
Sorry I can't trust a rookie, especially when TT turns away from skilled/talented players just because their not Packer People! I believe the Packers should bring in a VET and draft a RB. Bringing back Lacy on a friendly prove it deal, would be icing on the cake for me!
