But the Jets have a lot of unproven QBs, do they really need another? Do they feel like Hundley is somehow different than what they already got?
As for Sheldon Richardson situation, that has sometimes looked like a car that's about to crash.
He's already got a 4 game suspension for weed, and two weeks after that punishment handed down, he took the police on a 100+ car chase (with a 12 year old in the car) to avoid being caught with weed again.
His response to the media was that it's okay, because "Iím not a dope fiend, man. I can say no. I just chose not to." and he was only doing it because people don't know how to talk to his parents at work anymore and because he puts family first.
On top of this, like BJ Raji, he had his big break out year in year 2 and has been declining ever since.
He going to be earnings 8 million this year (the last year of his deal), and he's made it very very clear, he wants a HUUUUGE deal for his next contact with some suggesting it sounds like he's wanting a loooong term contract over 100 million.
I mean if you love Sheldon Richardson and think he's clearly worth 8 million for a year and losing Hundley, then it might be a good one year rental type thing (especially if you can get his stock back up to where he does get that huge deal and the Packers get a 3rd or 4th round comp pick back).
But Thompson has seemed to always tried to build for multiple years... and unless you are willing to give Richardson a mega deal, I don't see a long term thing being clear during the trade.
