Valid criticism that I think makes a good point. When you have a back like Lacy, you should use him to grind out the clock and pound people, but McCarthy seemed far to predictable with it. McCarthy was painfully predictable with a lead. On the other hand, Belichek has had different teams which may lead to a different approach. He had a better defense if the offense didn't eat clock and he didn't have a back as effective as Lacy.
This criticism is all made with the benefit of hindsight though. The Packers had to melt down in hard to believe ways to blow that lead, even with the conservative play calling. Bostick, blown extra point coverage, Ha-Ha making a pass coverage mistake in the endzone, Burnett downing himself with room to run. I doubt a Belichek team would make all those mistakes, so it still comes down to coaching.
