I don't think it's the same individuals going from "playoffs" to "fire everyone" and back again. I think it's much more that in a 'fan base', there are many different fans, each with their own opinions. These opinions are as different as snowflakes, but there do tend to be common themese (i.e., as you said, 'fire everyone' or 'playoffs baybee!!!!'). And which fans speak up more at a given time just depends on what's going on - i.e., if the team wins, the "fire everyone" fans tend to not say as much - winning doesn't fit their narrative. OTOH, take a game like vs. the Ravens, where the team looked HORRIBLE, and the "playoffs" fans tend to quiet down; hard to say 'playoffs' after a performance like that - again, it doesn't fit the narrative.
Which would also explain why the board was so quiet after the TB game:
- They won, so it's hard to say 'fire everyone' after a win
- Their performance was poor enough that to talk playoffs after a game like that really wouldn't fit the narrative either
I don't think it's the same individuals swinging wildly from one week to the next. But like any large group of people, if you try to take their individual opinions and form one consensus "the fan base thinks x", well, I can see where it would seem pretty schizophrenic...
