I know many disagree but what Ted was able to maintain and build was quite incredible minus the last 2-3 seasons. The talent he found early on was deep and led to a lot of success. His dynamic (Jennings/jones/nelson/finley/driver) was aside from DD all his own guys. Signing Pickett/Woodson drafting Collins, finding Shields was instrumental. The problems began when his draft and develop philosophy was hampered by underperforming talent and/or injured players. It makes me sick when people say “should’ve signed Hayward”, nobody said that back then, he appeared talented but was oft labeled injury prone/soft and not capable of playing our press man. Oddly enough because of depth & other issues our press man quickly became a soft zone. It’s disappointing we don’t have more titles, have to wonder though if Philbins son doesn’t die in the 15-1 season, what if? What if so much doesn’t go wrong in Seattle?
Unfortunately I think the NFC has become much tougher as a whole, there is real work to be done to get back to that next level. That window is getting tighter and there is little room for error, that we all already know. Fingers crossed this all works out!
