Yes it's a big deal... but compared to Matt Stafford's and Matt Ryan's big deals, this one is taking a lot longer to complete.
Yes Kirk Cousins took longer, but that was mainly due to the Redskins being unwilling to commit to Cousins... and then when they were ready, his demands had gone up, because he had to bet on himself a couple of times (and reportedly might of wanted out from the Redskins org. which at times seems like it's screwed up at the top levels).
But the Packers seem very willing to give Rodgers the highest NFL contract... so my guess is there is something else that is holding this contract is up. Like how much of it is in game day bonuses... where if he's not on the active 46 man roster, then he doesn't get paid. Or maybe some other reason.
