Eleven WR’s on the roster right now. Seven of those are draft picks.
The highest rounds taken is the second for Cobb and Adams.
And four UDFA’s.
Five of the WR’s have actual game experience. And only two of them extensive playing time that being Adams and Cobb.
Allison has 35 receptions, Davis 8, Clark 4.
Yes there is a lot of competition for spots but who might be the #3 and #4 WR? Who starts the season as that #3?
That battle has to go between Davis and Allison at this point. Both have two years in the offense. Both took a second year jump and usually at WR that third year is the make or break, you take off or your left behind.
Davis is a considerably better athlete over Allison. Better in every measurable, and his running in he open field is quite good.
His 12 yard per Punt return was #2 in the NFL. b###h all you want about some of his questionable fair catches which can be fixed he is an explosive player.
4.42 40, 1.51 ten yard, 38.5” vert, 6.60 3cone drill.
You have to ask did the Airport fiasco flip a switch?
Out of the three WR’s that have actual game catches other then Adams and Cobb he offered the most physical ability.
Allison is the least athletic out of the WR group. 1.65 ten yard, 4.67 40 at the combine and 4.56 his Pro Day. Add a 4.28 short shuttle and a 7.40 3 cone and I see him as having the least chance of remaining on the team.
Clark and Yancey would be next in line for me, Yancey has completely changed his body , losing 15# and increasing his play speed and improving his cuts in and out of breaks.
At 6-2 215 Yancey I would expect has improved his 4.53 40 along with his 1.57 ten yard and 6.84 3 cone.
Clark is still the rawest of the group and we have had multiple discussions about him at 6-6 217# he is a HUGE target. His 4.53 40 and 1.55 ten yard at 6-6 is really quite good. With that size his 3 cone shows with a unimpressive 7.54 3 cone. But just from watching him he has exceptional body control , quick feet and is smooth in all his movements.
To have one year playing WR in college to making the 53 last year shows what kind of potential he has.
His second year with this group is a going to be fun to watch, he either takes off or dies a quick death.
Right now Moore would be my number one out of the rookies to have he best chance of being on the 53 come Sept.
Two 1,000 yard seasons in the SEC is quite good. He is the only WR in the SEC to do that.
I don’t see any chance for the two pre draft signings, Pearson and Kumerow.
St Brown and Valdes -Scantling at this point would be practice squad players for me. I don’t completely rule them out but it is a tough row to hoe.
Adams, Cobb, Davis, Yancey, Clark and Moore would be my top six.
I question Allison making the team. He either take a huge step up or he will always be a after thought.
What say you?
