Though when thinking back on it, five come to mind (basically, when I felt like I was right... I guess I forget those that I was wrong about )
Looking at the years, maybe I should just come up with one for each year. But these are my top 5, in order, that bugged me the most.
2014: LB Carl Bradford and OLB Aaron Lynch
Lynch CLEARLY had SO MUCH more physical talented than Bradford... of course Lynch had lots of baggage too. Lynch had 12.5 sacks in his first two seasons for the 49ers. He's fallen off the map the last two seasons with off the field problems, and the team switching to a 4-3... but Lynch has gone to a 3-4 team (Bears) in FA, so we might be seeing him. Interesting note, both Bradford and Lynch have more tackles for the 49ers than the Packers.
2011: OG Caleb Schlauderaff and QB Tyrod Taylor
I thought Taylor would be the PERFECT back-up QB, and never did I think he would drop to the 6th round (and I was calling for him in the 5th round)... and I just thought it was a lock, the Packers would select Taylor... and they grab an OG (and Taylor is picked in the very next spot)...
2010: SS Morgan Burnett and TE Jimmy Graham
Simply put I fell in love with Graham's potential... though both Yoop and I thought Burnett would be good before the draft (Yoop was right, I was wrong, Burnett was better than Allen)... and we basically knew the Packers wanted a Safety that year. But I fell in love with Graham's physical potential... also it's kinda funny the two so swapped out in FA this year.
2013 DL Datone Jones to DT Kawann Short
Again I fell in love with Short's potential... I thought he could be what we all hoped for when we grabbed Mike Neal. Short has had 29.5 sacks in 5 years (24.5 in the last three). And really looking at who went behind Jones, that was a huge miss, lots of talented pasted up for Jones. Jones had raw potential... but in a 3-4 system, it wans't going to work... and kinda light for a 4-3 even.
2015 DB Damarious Randall to CB Ronald Darby
Simply put, of the guys that might drop to the Packers, I thought Darby was by far the best pure coverage guy that year. Darby had GREAT coverage... he prefer to avoid all contact, but I thought he was the best pure coverage guy... and he would hit if none of his teammates weren't around (but again avoid contact if his teammates were around). Though other CBs were taken before Darby as well... but I still think he was the correct choice... and he helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl this year.
