I forgot all about the lowering the head rule. Strange rule for a game that is pretty much played by putting your head down and charging forward. There is for sure and certain going to be at least one uproar over a game that is decided by a penalty for breaking this rule.
Seriously, if the rule as I read it is enforced, the game cannot be played. And if it is not universally enforced, it then becomes an arbitrary call and a coach's nightmare.
As for hits like the one on Adams, there is now need for a new rule. It was flagrant unnecessary roughness by any reasonable standard.
