Re: rodgers sounds off
I used to be absolutely 'religious' about this - whenever I was at a sporting event, it was stand at attention, hand on heart, and either silence or singing along. But after my first few times - minor league basketball, hockey and/or baseball - I started to notice that I was actually in the minority. Most people stood. But most kept their hats on, and very few actually put their hand on their heart. And many, even though they were standing, were gabbing away with those around them. But what really got me was when I realized that the reason many didn't put their hand over heart was that they were too busy holding their beers - couldn't even put it down for those couple minutes.
Frankly, when I'm at a game lately, I'm almost uncomfortable standing with hand on heart - I feel almost out of place doing it because of what I see around me.
I wonder how many of those who were griping the loudest, were too busy holding their beer when the anthem was actually being played...
