I say NO WAY to keeping only Graham and Lewis. Need another guy besides Lewis who can make the defense at least consider the possibility that he might be there to block in-line. If Graham is on the field, they know why he's there, and it ain't in-line blocking. What if Lewis goes down? Run game goes with him?
They CANNOT keep all 8 WR. They just can't afford it. One injury to either RB or TE, and the offense would be forced into a COMPLETELY one-dimensional state.
Frankly, with Graham as one of the TE, I would find it hard to keep 7.
- 5 starting OL, plus 3 backups
- 3 RB
- 1 FB
- 3 QB
- 7 WR - Graham plus 6 of the WR
- 3 TE - Lewis and two others.
That's 25. But I'm thinking they might go 26 D, 24 O - in which case, you'd be down to 2 TE (with Graham as the 7th WR), which to me is starting to get really iffy in the run game).
Only way to get to 7 WR not counting Graham IMO is to go with only 2 QB, and hope you can sneak Boyle onto PS as your third. If they determine to keep both Hundley and Kizer, then that settles it - they have to get down to six WR IMO. But I personally think Hundley becomes the odd man out - both Kizer and Boyle have more physical tools and upside IMO. Question is: will Gute take a chance on Boyle making it to the PS, or keep him on the 53?
