Pull back and look at McCarthys tenure though, especially for the last few years. Do that and then look back at the issues we've seen all year. Those issues are the same as the one always been. Take that wide angle view and tell me that mcCarthy is not summed up as follows: somewhere around an average to above-average-at-best coach, who fails to correct ongoing mistakes, too often makes questionable decisions - both in calling plays and managing personnel - but occasionally has been around for some decent playoff runs, and one Superbowl run."
Did I miss anything there? Take away all the hail marry completions Rodgers has made to keep the team in playoff contention, or in the playoffs. Take away the "run the table" stretch in 2016 where Rodgers played at a historic pace (he threw damn near 300 passes without a pick), and what would you be saying about Mike as a coach?
Last thing - ask yourself how anything less than an NFC Championship game appearance can improve this wide angle view that we've taken on McCarthy. They say " keep doing what you've done, and you'll continue to get the same results"
Is another lost season of Rodgers prime/record breaking contract acceptable? Two more? Three more? At what point do we call a spade a spade, and just rip off the band-aid?
