Re: NFL penalty stats
Agree that the stats are overblown by playing from behind but I believe included in those "hidden yards"were the missed FGs (other team gets the ball at the point of the kick, say the 35 instead of you kicking off into end zone) and perhaps the two turnovers (they got the ball inside our 30 yard line). Our defense really played better vs. Stafford than I can ever remember, that coupled with the injuries they suffered to their DBs during the game really lead me to believe that if not for the three times we gave them the ball in scoring territory, & the missed kicks, we win that game regardless of penalties, etc. The one that bothered me was J. Jones holding on Monty's kick return.....gave a really poor effort in taking a bad angle, I have real concerns about him, goes back to the fact that in his final year at NC State, the ACC coaches did not vote him even "Honorable mention" to their all conference team.
