It's a fact of NFL life that a team goes way up on the scoreboard (unless that team is NE) they back off and try to keep the clock moving. DET did just that, so using Crosby as the scapegoat and letting McCarthy slide is short sighted.
I've tried to point it out here many times; McCarthy's overall body of work is starting to look less impressive the past few years.
When there is blame to be had, someone has to have it. Rodgers missing a few throws and crosby missing a few kicks should not cover up all the plaques on the McCarthy wall of shame.
