Yeah if a coach is under contract, the potential new teams, needs permission from the current teams to interview said person, unless it's for a spot that controls the 53 man roster (ie Head coach or GM).
Also I'm not sure how that has changed... is that via a rule or just tradition?... like the tradition was to allow coaches to interview for promotions, and that tradition is now dead.
And this subject has come up some with the Steelers OL coach interviewing for the Broncos... but the differences there is that his contract is up and will be a FA coach, so the Steelers have no say in who he talks with.
