Again Need and BPA go hand in hand, you have a QB and OLB with the same grade and you can choose either you take the need.
The Packers have people that do nothing but evaluate players for draft.
Every player in the draft is evaluated, all are given the Packer own rating.
And yes many player will be ranked the same, and players will be ranked higher by the Packers for fit, physical minimums they require for the position, and the person himself.
Others will be ranked lower by the Packers for the same reasons.
RY is correct you pick good players that fit your systems, and every player, be that the #12 pick or #212 are developmental players.
Think back to Wolf drafting three CBís with the first three picks 1999 and itís was the 3rd rounder that started and did the most.
Yes there are the Blue chip players that might be the the top 5 to 10 and some years more that are the best players available and you hope help the team right away.
But you also get a Mark Tauscher, Marco Rivera, Donald Driver, Scott Wells, Johnny Jolly, Dorsey Levins, KGB all day three picks.
And day two is a better example yet.
You trade up if a player you think is worth the move is there and you can make a deal you like.
If you have a large group of players with equal ranks and you can pick up another pick and still get a player out of that group you trade back.
Or to stay and take the Player that has the highest rank and fits a need.
Itís all about quality from 12 to 212 to UDFAís.
Look at Lancaster, Brown, Light, Crawford this last year.
