Yeah, Wagner is going to be 34, past his prime and Packers suggested they were going young at LB... BUT... BUT... with the release of Campbell, the Packers potentially have a hole at MLB.
And while some are assuming McDuffie steps up into it, and he might, the Packers were reportedly trying to sign the Broncos FA LB, whom signed with the Panthers for a lot of money. Which would suggest to me, Packers aren't sold on McDuffie YET.
Also, while it's a 4-2, the sub packages is a 4-3.
Wagner might be past his prime, but his run defense and tackling is still CLEARLY elite, the area the Packers have struggled in most. His coverage isn't as good as it used to be, but it's not bad, and most of his worst coverage games were against NFC West division rivals, which he'll play less.
Clearly got to watch the amount of money and have the contract be able to easily get out of something goes wrong. But I think Wagner could be a good fit for a year or two. Maybe even have him help teach run defense and tackling, and be a general leader.
