2. Washington Commanders select Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU. Adam Schefter has basically said this one can be written in ink. I sure as hell wouldn't do this, but it's sounding like this one is locked in. Yikes
TRADE! Vikings trade both 1sts plus extra to the Patriots to move up to 3.
3. Minnesota Vikings select Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina. He's a great fit for the Kevin O'Connell offense.
4. Arizona Cardinals select Marvin Harrison, WR, Ohio State. Straight forward
TRADE! Bears trade 9 and futures to move up to 5 with the Chargers.
5. Chicago Bears select Malik Nabers, WR, LSU. Bears don't have a lot of draft capital, but with a lot of teams needed WR early and they want to surround their rookie QB with weapons, they trade away future picks to get their guy. Chargers new GM Joe Hortiz comes from Baltimore where trading down and acquiring picks is a premium.
6. New York Giants select Rome Odunze, WR, Washington. They need a bonafied WR1 and Odunze is that guy.
7. Tennessee Titans select Joe Alt, OT, Notre Dame. Bet all the money that Tennessee drafts OL in R1.
TRADE! Denver Broncos trade up to 8 with Atlanta.
8. Denver Broncos select JJ McCarthy, QB, Michigan. Let's be honest, Sean Peyton is running the show. If he wants to move up for a QB, knowing that he can work for a few years, let it fail, and retire again, he certainly can do that. Atlanta trades out because the CBs/EDGE players they can get at 8 can also be had later down the draft.
9. Chargers select Talise Fuaga, OT, Oregon State. The Chargers have Rashan Slater at LT, no one at RT, and Jim Harbaugh wants to run the ball. So they draft Fuaga as the best run blocking RT in the class.
10. New York Jets select Troy Fautano, OT, Washington. One of my favorite fits in the draft. Fautano is the day one starter at LG as well as a swing tackle if/when Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses go down with injury.
11. New England Patriots select Olu Fashanu, OT, Penn State. Patriots trade down and still land the best pass blocking tackle in the class.
12. Atlanta Falcons select Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toleda. Falcons trade down and still land the first defensive player in the class.
13. Los Vegas Raiders select Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama. I have DeJean rated higher, but Field Yates of ESPN reported many teams have him as a Safety. So the Raiders take the best physical corner in the class.
14. New Orleans Saints select JC Lathem, OT, Alabama. Saints need help all over the OL. Lathem is the day one starter at RG and the eventual starter at RT when Ryan Ramcheck calls it a career.
15. Indianapolis Colts select Brock Bowers, TE, Georgia. I've often had Cooper DeJean landing here in Indy, but with Anthony Richard coming back from injury, the Colts opt to take the best remaining pass catcher in the class.
TRADE! Pittsburgh Steelers trade up from 20 to 16 with the Seahawks
16. Pittsburgh Steelers select Amarium Mims, OT, Georgia. Pittsburgh jumps ahead of the Bengals to grab the best remaining OT on the board. Seattle loves trading down and getting additional value.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars select Brian Thomas Jr, WR, LSU. Jags screwed up on Calvin Ridley. So they grab Thomas Jr who brings the deep speed they need.
TRADE! New England trades up from 23 to 18 with the Bengals.
18. New England Patiots select Jared Verse, EDGE, Florida State. After moving down from pick 3 to 11 and 23, Elliot Wolf moves up after the first EDGE player falls further than expected.
19. Los Angeles Rams select Dallas Truner, EDGE, Alabama. After finding success with undersized EDGE Lonard Floyd, the Rams go back to the well with high upside, undersized edge Dallas Turner
TRADE! The Green Bay Packers trade picks 25 and 88 to move up to 20 with the Seahawks.
20. Green Bay Packers select Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa. Here's a realistic scenario to how the Packers can land DeJean. Seattle continues to move back as they often like to do, and Green Bay gives up while still having two 2s and a 3 to work with. If DeJean falls past Indy at 15, Green Bay should be in serious consideration to trade up.
21. Miami Dolphins select Jer'Zahn Newton, IDL, Illinois. Miami needs OL help but they can land IOL on day 2. Newton has slipped down the draft board and Jer'Zahn fills in after the Dolphins lost Christian Wilkins.
22. Philadelphia Eagles select Laitu Latu, EDGE, UCLA. Philly continues to prioritize the trenches and land arguably the most technically refined DL in the class.
23. Cincinati Bengals select Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma. Bengals need help all across the OL so they grab Guyton who could start day one at RT or RG.
24. Dallas Cowboys select Graham Barton, IOL, Duke. Dallas is almost certainly taking OL in R1. Barton is the day 1 starter at C with flexibility to move all over the line.
25. Seattle Seahawks select Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL, Oregon. JPJ probably steps in as the day one starter at RG but can go back to C in the pros if needed.
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State. I'm starting to hear rumblings about Robinson going higher than expected so this may end up being too low.
27. Arizona Cardinals select Byron Murphy, IDL, Texas. After landing MFJ at the top, the Cardinals start to rebuild the defense.
28. Buffalo Bills select Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State. After moving on from Stefan Diggs, Buffalo needs a down field threat who can just go up and get the ball. That's Coleman.
29. Detroit Lions select Kool-Aid McKinstry. The Lions defense cost them a super bowl appearance. They need to rebuild across the board.
TRADE! Carolina Panthers trade pick 33 plus extra to move up to 30 with Baltimore
30. Carolina Panthers select Xavier Ligette, WR, South Carolina. Bryce Young needs WRs who can get open and make something happen with the ball in their hand. Ligette has more yards per route run than any other WR in college football.
31. San Francisco 49ers select Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona. Another team that needs help everyone on the OL, including a potential backup for Trent Williams.
32. Kansas City Chiefs select AD Mitchell, WR, Texas. When the ball is coming his way, Mitchell is one of the best WRs in the class. When he's not the focal point of the play, his attitude and effort stinks. If he goes to a locker room like the Chiefs, hopefully they can clean up that behavior.
