Gonlett, Gaunlett, or Gault-let, is the subject matter here. in the mid 70s, Doc Baker and Shumway had a jousting contest, in canoes, at Friendship. They were both later on, fined, by the cops, for not having a life vest in the canoes. LOL! Anyway, they both stood at the front of the canoes, while one of their buds, was in the back, paddling like hell at each other, in the river, that divides the Primitive Area from the sheep sheds. Doc and Shumway had long lodge poles, cut down and padded at the buisness end, with a ball of clothes. When the two canoes came to the knock out point, Doc drilled Shumway, and Shumway went into the river, and his canoe turned over, and filled with water. NOW, the loser of this duel had to run a gaun-let. The gaun-let was a long one, with women and kids, bearing switches and ramrods, in the two rows of the gaun-let. LOL! I love this crap. LOL! Shumway was ready to make the the run. He took off his shirt, crossed his arms on his chest, and "walked" the gaunlet. The women and kids never give Shumway any slack. He made it, and was in fine spirts after his ordeal.
Sooooooooo, this is my proposel to you all. Lets have this event at the next years Frolic at Widowmakers Station. We wont use canoes, but lets take the 7th highest shooter in the overal shooting, and "HE" has to run the gaunlet. IF by chance, its a woman or youngster, the next highest shooter has to run it. Any other way someone comes up with the gaun-let, we can do do that instead of this idea. If not a good idea, just trash the above. I personally think its cool, but thats how my mind works. Cheers, Lizard!
