sorry I haven't been on.
It doesn't matter which God or Goddess, they all come from the same Divine light.(All Is One)
you can use your athame, wand or power finger.
As far as why right to left, it has to do with the balance of energies, if you study the tree of life, (I've been studying this for years and still studying, we wont go there) 
there will be more understanding on this, until then, if you feel comfortable with it, just do it in case your in that situation again, just remember to close the circle behind you.
