I've had fibromyagia since before it was even discovered! As for medication, as mine is one of the most severe cases on record in my country (great) AND, I also have arthritis, I am on extremely strong pain killers, and have been for over a decade. But apparently my body dosen't react to these medications the way basically anyone else who takes them does. To be honest, they should make me feel as "high" as a kite, and not able to do anything but sit around feeling 'high'. But for some reason, I do not experience even the slightest feeling of being 'high'. As I told my Doctor, the only difference between them and asprin, is that the medication helps alleviate the pain, that's it.
As for performing medication while doing magick, I've written an essay on it that's on my web site and at another web site called The Witches Voice. Basically my view is that you should not practice magick if the medication you are taking effects your thinking process, makes it difficult to consentrate or get's you 'high'. Many times when someone is put on a medication, they may experience side effects for a few weeks while the drug is being absorbed by your body, but once it is used to it and you can function normally, theres nothing wrong with practicing magick. I hope that helps.
