I understand what your saying, first and foremost, remember its ok to be where your at, as humans, we tend to beat up on ourself, thats how we get stuck in the negative (dark aspects).
When your doing your breathing, are you taking that breath all the way down to the bottom of your stomach? are you listening to any relaxing music? do you ever take a salt bath or smudge with sage before hand?
a lot of time that helps me get my mind and energy ready to meditation, especially when I'm not feeling good or have had a lot hitting me from the wonderful lessons we get in life,
just some ideas if you haven't already done this.
