Uncle Tony's book recommendation got me thinking about books. The book he suggested looks interesting. I would've actually tried to barter with the seller, but they won't ship to Canada
.
The last books I bought I got on Ebay. They were digital books (you read in Acrobat), that cost about 2 bucks each (which is in my price range
.
I bought a few spell books many years ago, but frankly, they ended up being so stupid I put them on the side walk out side in a box that said "Free Books"
. And I remember quickly flipping through a really big one at my library last summer called something like a thousand and one spells for every purpose, but it was just as stupid.
I have all of Scott Cunningham, and Silver Ravenwolf's books, along with tons more (thanks to my late hubby), but none of them are specifically spell books.
I like Silver Ravenwolf's early stuff, but I personally think that she has become a sell out. About 15 people I know bought her book 'Teen Craft' just out of curiosity, or for their children, and NO ONE had anything good to say about it. Actually most of the people that I know who got it really REALLY hated it. And her last book "Solitary Witchcraft" has a few good bits, but is basically just a collection of stuff she already wrote about in her other books, with some fluff thrown. I also noticed that she does this thing where she starts talking about something, and then instead of giving you information or references, says something like "If you want to know more about (fill in the blank), read my book (fill in the blank). In my opinion she wrote pretty much everything she knows in her first 3 books, saw markets to tap into (teens and solitaries), and just regurgitates her old books using different words to make it to apply to them. Am I the only one here that thinks that?
Anyway...
We haven't talked about books in ages. I don't have any spell books, do any of you have any suggestions of any spell books that you find come in handy....as opposed to ones that cause you to ROFL
? Or just good books, or favorite authors you recommend?
How about favorite authors of Witchcraft books in general? I really enjoy Gavin and Yvonne Frost, and also like Ann Moura. And you.....?
