PERFECT!!!! Lovely flow, I particularly love the addition of "my new friends". I must admit that when I see them near my garden, my deep love of them, switches to seeing them as very cute "pests".
Ages ago in a different apartment I had a 'pet' squirrel "Sammy", who would magically appear within a minute of calling him, and we would eat breakfast together every morning..on the kitchen table.
And then in this building I had "Ghost". The raccoon who climbed the tree outside my window (reminder; I live on the 3rd, top story of my building.) He'd come in, and I'd feed him nuts by putting them on the end of a short wooden BBQ skewer. I also took him to the vet to get shots and so forth.
Just as with Sammy, my hubby never believed my when I told him about my animal friends. Particularly about a raccoon that would climb a 3 story tree to visit me. So when he came in and saw Ghost in my lap, I thought he was going to have a heart attack!
He was even more shocked that my dear departed cat 'Wolfgang' and Ghost would curl up and sleep together on occasion.
It broke my heart when the branch he climbed along to get in finally broke. I would see Ghost in the tree trying in vain to find a way to get in, but he was just too large.
It's really weird that every place I have lived where it was possible for an animal to get in, I would end up with a new pet...or pets, and local animals are never scared of me, even when others who have seen them say they run away when anyone is out back.
When I'm out back, it's like 'wild kingdom'
The only time I was a bit startled, was when a skunk came wandering up to me. I had visions of taking baths in tomato juice and so forth.
I didn't know what to do, then I slowly lifted my hand, the skunk suddenly stopped about 3 feet from me, I gently made one waving motion (to turn around) and it did!! Boy was that a relief! I can't imagine what I would have had to go through if it sprayed me for some reason.
But in terms of totem animals, it made me think of skunks in VERY different terms. It was the first time I even considered a skunk as a power animal.
But an animal that can cause wild life, and humans to part like the red sea just because it is walking in near? That's power!!
Anyway...thank you SO MUCH for your help.![]()
