Last month, I moved into this great little house in the Albuquerque burbs. It was undoubtedly a move that is sure to result in much spiritual prosperity. As I am certain that we are sitting on an opening between here and somewhere.
We get all kinds of energy flowing through here. Sometimes, if you are sitting in the living room, you will feel this rush of energy flow right though you. The closest thing that I can compare it to is the gust of wind that accompanies a moving subway car. My roommate has taken to calling the place a spiritual bus stop.
Well, as a precaution, I intended to mix a powerful ward to protect certain rooms of the house (the bedrooms). The energy mainly surges through the living room. But, as it stands, none of the house is immune. And, we aren't cool with that.
There are also fae living in the trees. We live in the city. So, I can only assume that the energy flow attracts them.
Anyway.
Ever since I got here, I knew that most of my spiritual work would take place in the back yard. Partially because Voodoo is a magick that draws from natural energy. And, partially because the entire property is set up for magickal practice. I swear. It's like a mage designed it.
So, last night, I decided to do my first bit of work out back. I was mixing together a VERY aromatic and potent ward. I set up my workspace. I formed a circle. I paid respects to the fae in the yard and to the gods that I regularly work with. I had no intent of casting any kind of spell (other than forming a circle to protect myself, and the environment around me).
What I didn't do was check with the fae before I started working. I didn't think to get their permission to do magick in the space they call home. I guess that I just assumed that it working with them was like working with my gods. Boy was I wrong.
Also, I found out (the hard way) that the fae don't like electricity. Who knew?. I hung a flashlight from a tree branch to used it as a lantern, they nearly dropped it on my head. I played Loreena McKennitt music from my MP3. They were scared of the sorcerer's box.
I just got my ceremonial candles lit, when they blew them out, and went on a tirade about prosperity. Or, at least that was the general gist of it. I don't speak fae. So, I don't exactly know what their leader was saying to me. But, I do know that I upset them.
I left them with a bottle of very good rum, a cup of warm milk and honey, and my ceremonial candles to study. I'm hoping that they take accept my offering and that we can have a long and mutually prosperous relationship. But, that is still up in the air.
So, is anyone here an expert on the faefolk? Is there a website or book that I can reference? Are there any known formal rules or guidelines for working with them? I VERY much want to avoid anymore mishaps.
