"The swan ushers in a time of altered states of awareness, and of development of your intuitive abilities." and "You must accept whatever the future holds, without trying to change it." is the swan wearing a tuxedo, with a top hat and monocle. I think it happened that way because you kept asking, but I think it was there before that 
one of the reasons I use wolf is kinda the same thing, I've always been drawn to the Native American Indian culture, which has a lot of themes with the wolf, but out of nowhere, I was gifted wolves, in pictures, nick-nacs even two different puzzles by two different people in the same week! During rituals, I kept seeing a dog, then my coven sister started to see him, she told me it was mine, but I'd never had a dog like that, during one of my teachers Reiki circles, I kept seeing the same dog
afterward, she told me it was mine, so I started meditating on it, it was a wolf, a beautiful blondish red wolf. I never could see him as mine until it was made so obvious that I couldn't ignore him.
