I have been coming to your site for many years, and I have a few suggestions that may help.
My family and I have several pagan sites, one of which is through tripod the site is considerable less than most, being 15.00 a month (yes I'm canadian too, - nova scotia
), we also have a paltalk chat room, and ning site, which is free, these can be set up to resemble web pages, so anyone can view them, they are fully promotable, the same as any other web page, and increased space is fairly inexpensive. There are even options to put your own advertising on, as well as donate buttons.
Ning is a social networking site as such, however your could keep this sites name, and graphics and uses them on the ning, it can be set up via the group section to resemble school class rooms, or groups, as each group has several web pages included, and sections that people can join and get email updates as info is added, it has discussion forums, blogs you can even take this form and add it to the ning site as well.
