One more thing. Pay attention to your breathing. You always want to be inhaling and exhaling a decent amount of air. If you let your breathing get too shallow, you will drift off to sleep. Once you have a good inhaling/exhaling rhythm, your mind will go on its journey, while your body keeps that steady airflow going.
Proper breathing will also help you keep energized after your meditations. That way, coming back to this reality will be refreshing. You won't have that glazed over feeling that you get when you just wake from slumber.
