The story I read in a nut shell, is that the Goddess has been around since the beginning of time. Eventually She got lonely, made love to Herself (masturbated), became pregnant with, and gave birth to the God who is Her lover..and technically speaking, would also make Him her son as well....ick (just my opionion).
My beliefs are almost identical with Inujade. I'm an eclectic Witch, not Wiccan. I know from my own personal experiences that there is without question a Divine force that is in and all around us, that all Gods and Goddesses are all aspects of this Divine energy or 'force' (if you can get past the whole Star Wars stuff), and are there to help us when we are confused, make us feel loved in times of loneliness and sorrow, and provide guidance either directly through dreams or meditative experiences, or offer us a guide in the form of a person during our development.
As for Buddha, I do not 'worship' him per say, but his teachings really make sense and resonate with me. I did not seek out Buddha's teachings. But after I got my 3rd Buddha statue, I became very curious, but could not afford to buy any books on the subject.
Not long after, I went out to the garbage to look at an office chair someone threw away. I didn't take the chair, but I did find a box of books in mint condition. 13 of them had to do with Buddhism, Tao, I Ching and Zen. I took that as a sign that it might be worth my while to read them, and saw it as a very obvious gift from the 'All', 'Divine' or whatever you want to call it.
