Wow, he sounds like my ex!! Silver tongue, knows just what to say and how to say it, I've seen this man get out of shit that anyone else would have gone to jail for. I doubt that its anything magickal, he's probably just a smooth talker with that likable personality, mine was a real player, what was really a trip is that I realized he had no guy friends, only "girl" friends that were suppose to be "just" friends if you get my drift 
Anyway, my suggestion to you is to protect yourself from him and I would tell your family & friends to do the same if their open to it
