To me it sounds like someone is either pulling a stupid gag on your daughter or some very ignorant person truly believes what they're saying to her.
The necronomicon is a work of fiction. That doesn't mean it can't be dangerous, but there aren't ancient magical secrets in it. Any actual information will be jumbled and out of context because Lovecraft just combined a bunch of different mythos, basically using whatever sounded cool.
Trying to 'keep it safe' is pointless because you can buy them at any old Chapters. I've seen several copies at mine.
Furthermore, it has nothing to do with wicca 
. Who gave it to her? And please let her know what it really is...it's pointless for her to be so reverent and frightened of a book with NO inherent power. If she believes it has power, that will make it more dangerous.
