I'm going to jump into this for a minute
The Sabbaths have been a part witchcraft for centuries before Wicca was ever founded, in many different believes all over the world, that's why there's so many pantheons.
No matter what you call the cycles, they are there and they do show us how life works, not only our physical, but also our spiritual beings. Really if you think about it, to be in-tunes with everything and not believe in or give some kind of honor to a Great Spirit or Divine or whatever it is you want to call it, doesn't make any sense. Studying the human body and how life is formed and how the energy around us, effects us, there has to be a Divine plan for all this, its too intricate of work not too.
It all comes back to one thing in my eyes, you either are working to stay in a lighter more positive and loving part of life or you choose to stay in the dark and negative part of life.
That's why so many witches pray, see reason to worship a God/dess(es)LOL, give thanks and honor and celebrate the Sabbaths in many different believe systems, they just have different story lines, but basically, the same story is told
