Heads up on this one!!!! When I refer to dogs in posts it is only because that is what I am most known for however it is a general issue with all animals when something is not quite right. So bear with me on this.
Many times a dog health issue is caused by food. Before you search for some exotic reason for your dogs allergy look at the food first, it is usually the cause. Food allergies are more common than others. This is because dog foods are commercial and therefore the key word is "commercial" which translates to cash.
There are a few dog food companies in this country that manufacture their own food from products grown in a country called America. 
They are what we call high end dog foods because they cost quite a lot. While price is not always indicitive of quality in most cases it prevails yet the company I referred to is a "celebrity" jump on the band wagon company and yet does not provide good food even at a high price. So.....investigate the company you use and make them tell you what is in their food. Most of them will but if they hedge then.....run!!!!! Word of mouth is a powerful tool.
I have never advertised my dogs other than having a web site. Over time I cannot remember the numbers of pups I have sold (not mine as I seldom breed) for others and yet never an ad anywhere. In this process people ask about food and so I refer to companies using my own experiences as a reference. Did you know that dog food companies will send you "puppy packets" free to give to new owners containing all kinds of goodies as a referral tool?? If it is a good company then it is a tool you will want to consider. GOOD being the key word here. So word of mouth does pay off for them. It also can damage their sales if they are not honest. It may be the best tool we have along with message boards where people ask careful questions depending on the experience of others they can trust.
Having said the above you can understand the close watch we have on this message board for posters who still have a burr in their ???? trying to attack our posters wth malice. The mentality of those who strike out in anger without investigation blindly following because it is easier. There are a lot of dishonest people. For some strange reason they cannot fathom honesty. Fanatics are everywhere even in the dog world where they exploit without even knowing what they are doing. It is mass mentality and requires no thought. Hitler was a master of this. It is easier to follow than to lead hence the "Sheeples". Keep in mind they are eventually led to slaughter.
