I have to disagree with the socialization part. Dogs must be socialized. If kept entirely within the family and not trained they will not develop as well as those that have been subjected to outside influences. Dogs should be worked. It is the nature of a dog to be friendly with humans. There is a mutual connection that develops if the human participates. Lack of socialziation can erupt in fear and mistrust.
Training is paramount in any dog. Dogs have to be worked and have something to do. Dogs have to have space but should not be allowed to run loose in our suburban society or they will be mis-understood and therefore are the BSL and other such issues that hover over us all.
Bone density is a development of growth in a dog and is a combination of breeding, nourishment and exercise.
While contracts are a nice gesture that are not enforceable. Careful screening is the best tool one can have and not over breeding flooding the market with pups is the next good tool. I personally think one litter a year is enough and even that could be stretched out more. There are too many breedings already going on with the backyard breeders and the market is being flooded with pups of all kinds. If we want to keep our dogs rare we have to continue to not breed frequently. This cannot be a money game or the breed will be destroyed and we will be the destroyers.
Think about Nature and Nuture. Nature is the natural order of things determined by the fluctuation of the cycles of the Earth. Nature nurtures. Nuture in human intervention usually screws things up because of egos and mostly because we think we know more than Nature.
The Natural Order works. Wolves have survived since the beginning of time and if left alone will continue to do so and thrive. They also do not overbreed as nature controls their cycles.
Our current economy is not condusive to high priced high end dogs. Personally I would prefer to see more dogs adopted and less euthanized.
