I saw a subject addressed elsewhere about medications and anesthesia drugs that are bad for dogs. Personally, I was embarrassed because I always ask about cause, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and what is being prescribed for myself and/or pets. I always double check a PDR for but I've never asked about anesthesia drugs. I thought I was always being so diligent!
It was suggested that a dog's tolerance to certain drugs could be breed specific, among other things. I would like to know more about the "breed specifics", too.
Does anyone know about bad medicine for cats?
Drugs NOT good for dogs (surely there must be more than this): any thiobarbiturates (biotal, sorital, pentothal), acepromazine (should be used with extreme caution)
Drugs preferred for dogs: Propofol, Telazol, Ketamine, Valium.
