I recently started searching for a Canine Nutritionist. I found very few and only one that actually showed credentials showing knowledge. In fact, I posted her web site and credentials as she had them shown; only copy & pasted with no editing.
I am So Disappointed!!!!!!
I first sent an email Sunday 12/28 (only contact available - no phone # given) stating I was seeking information, I stated I have a Dogo and I was wanting to discuss and learn, and deal with a few specific issues. I did not state what the issues were, only I needed a little guidance. On Monday 1/5 I recieved a reply - see below:
Hi Cheryl,
mainly the consultations are grouped by your choice of diet, the basic one includes dry and canned food recommendations, the advanced comes either with those as well or a kibble-free feeding plan, plus fresh food additions, and the premium is entirely based on home-prepared. All of these include individual recommendations for supplementation as well.
The wellness packages upgrade these feeding consultations to also include non-feeding related topics, like vaccinations, parasite prevention, and so on.
To reserve a spot on my client waiting list, please make the payment for your desired consultation using one of the following methods:
1. credit/debit card payments through Paypal,
please send your payment to pay@betterdogcare.com
2. direct fund transfers and e-checks through Paypal,
please send your payment to ppl@betterdogcare.com
3. money order by mail to
Sabine Contreras
2118 Wilshire Blvd. #127
Santa Monica, CA 90403-5704
Please include your name, your dog's name, and the type of consultation you would like along with your payment to ensure timely processing.
After you have sent in your payment, you will receive a client questionnaire, please fill it in with as much detail as possible and email it back to me. If your computer cannot handle the form file, please let me know and I will send you a plain text version instead.
Clients are placed on my waiting list in the order of payments received and questionnaires completed, the current wait is approximately 4 weeks. Dogs suffering from critical health problems who need dietary assistance as quickly as possible do receive preferential placement on my waiting list, so please let me know if this is the case for you!
Once I begin work on a consultation, it is generally completed within 3-4 business days. If there is a delay, such as for example when researching a specific product, you will be notified.
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

Well... Not quite the response I was looking for here. So I did a reply - being more specific:
Hello Sabine -
I guess I should tell you a little of how I am currently feeding and why I am seeking more information, and you can help to direct to the appropriate package.
Breakfast- 2 Cups dry kibble (was feeding Purina One when rash started - since switched to Diamond Chicken & Rice formula)
Dinner - I am currently feeding a base of kibble (2 cups) - then I mix in 2 cups of a "mix" I make myself. The ingredients are never quite the same in 2 batches as I vary them.
The main ingredients I use: (all Human grade!!) Cooked - Rolled flaked Oatmeal or Rolled flaked Barley for base
vegitables - green beans/ sweet potatoes/ carrots/ peas/ brocally/ appleMeat - (only one at a time per batch)
- Raw Ground Turkey/ Raw ground hamburger/ Boiled Deboned chicken
- raw liver or kidney either ground or pureed (1 lb to every 4-5 lbs meat)
Eggs - either raw or boiled (either with or without shell)
Topped with Plain Yogurt or Cottage Cheese approx 3 - 4 times per week
Supplements of Probiotics & Kelp given daily
The reason I am seeking additional information - Ninja has a rash on her stomach and around her vulva area. I have taken her off all kibble feeding only my "mix" (since approx Dec 20). She is also constantly licking her feet/ rash area, and to complicate further she is now in heat. Since I removed the kibble there is some slight improvement in the rash itself but it is still present - no effect on other issues mentioned. Do you believe you may be able to help me?
I will look forward to hearing back,
Cheryl

Here is her response as of today:
I think the main decision here is whether you want to continue using commercial food, or go to home prepared only?

Maybe somebody here might see something a little different than I do ... I do not see one piece of concern for my dog or what I'm trying to do here!!! I was asking her to help "tweak" what I'm already doing - maybe add or ?? ingredients... As for all I can see here I believe I am already cooking & preparing my own food. My bottom line question - Can You Help Me???? I state I am having rash problems, the diet I'm feeding, all I want is a simple answer... YES I believe we can make a difference, or NO you are doing great, hope it works out for you... SOMETHING....
Alright now - you've read this far... Any Opinions here??? Based on what I see here - I do believe we are already doing what she is charging for - and all anyone has to do is Log In - and Ask!!!!
(opinions on "Sabine"/or situation...
BTW Ninja is doing much better now and am seeing improvements daily)
