I used to go to Mexico quite a lot, although not so much lately with all the trouble in the border towns. The strays have adapted to be under the radar, they are semi feral, do not need nor want contact with humans, even though they do live in whatever little burrow they manage to find. I always felt bad for them when I saw them, but I could tell that they wanted nothing to do with any human. I'm sure they have been the target of awful actions against them from humans. It just prooves that dogs can adapt to any situation, probably much better than we adapt.
