We had a major blizzard here on the East area. Ice and sleet with major snowfall. Below zero temps and frozen everything.
Storm and I had a fine time. We have been working on a rescue for over five months. It has been a long haul. Details of those involved will not be used other than to say Fierabras is now safe at home in Texas. Storm drove 2500 miles round trip outrunning the storm (her name is well deserved) to execute the final stage of the rescue. She called and said she was climbing a hill and it was foggy..I informed her she was crossing the Blue Ridge mountains and was in the clouds.
In the interim two pups had to be rescued at the same time. They were, and will be on their was to new safe homes within a couple of weeks. The dogs involved are in poor condition, needless to say, and are now being cared for and rehabed. Fiera will take a lot longer as he is older but he will finally be the dog he is meant to be. Starvation is the issue in all along with lack of human contact for proper development. Their food issues, development and mental health are being taken care of.
Meanwhile Storm and I got snowed in and had a good time in spite of the circumstances. Our water froze and we had to circumvent the usual expectations of genteel living
but with a good sense of humor and the ability to make do we and all dogs survived without incident. Dogs are now safely tucked away where no one can ever again mistreat them. Wild birds were fed constantly and we trucked down the hill with a sled full of deer feed to my feeding station.
We all made it through the storm in tact.
About stupid people!!!!! I, for one, have been guilty of tolerating people who seem to be able to justify their horrid behavior. This will no longer be the case. If anyone thinks I am caustic now, just wait!!
This has been a study in the revelation that stupid idiots will always be stupid idiots despite their justification of having a lot on their plate. Plates could not have been fuller than this past several days and yet all went down to favor the dogs. The people involved are already in failure mode and it is just a matter of little time until they totally collapse. Their little world will cave in on them and they will be seeking help which will not come. Sound cruel....maybe one day we will let you see the pictures of the dogs in question.
There are no accolades expected here. We are not special for this only have the self satisfaction of doing the right thing. We both feel lucky that we had the opportunity to meet in person and our reward (along with a bottle of champagne) is knowing these three dogs will be happy in their lives. Not everyone gets this chance.
