Hear Hear!!!! Learning to live in our habitat in conjunction with the local wildlife is the way to go. It is not always easy but it can be done with safety. A scorpion is a spider, a big-un!! They all have their place. I can say this as we do not have them in Virginia but we do have some nasty spiders.
People here complain about mosquitos. I have very few. I feed birds year round. Just feed the birds and they will take care of the mosquito problem. Working with nature. We also have lots of bats at night. Its fun sitting on the porch watching the bats fly around the light post. I am easily entertained.
I think this falls under common sense. Having lived in Texas for a time I found that you shake your shoes (I still do it) and do not step into a shower stall without looking first (snakes like them). We can pretty much learn to live together as wildlife does its best to avoid us.
