I have only been to a few dog shows about 8 or 9 years ago and I was not impressed.
They were either ARBA or Rarities and completely political.
The first show I attended I took my first Dogo, Boomer, although he was not enterd -- I only went to support another person with a Dogo in the show. My neighbor went with me to hold Boomer's leash while I took pictures of the Dogo in the show. There was a DDB in the ring and the handler was making hand gestures to another person outside the ring with another DDB. Right as the judge was doing the close up, running his hands on the body of the Dogo in the show, the person outside the ring with the DDB ran the DDB straight up on Boomer. Boomer was the most mellow dog, but that was absolutely horrible dog manners and he reacted -- not violently -- but he did voice his anger. The Dogo in the ring simply looked over at the ruckus, looked back at the judge, sighed and rolled his eyes. The judge was so impressed that he gave the Dogo in the ring and extra point for not reacting to the incident. After the Dogo handler came out of the ring she told me that the whole time in the ring the DDB handler was secretly flicking bait on the ground around the Dogo trying to get the Dogo to act up.
OMG!! It's a freakin dog show -- I don't get it. People corrupt everything they touch.
I have absolutely zero respect for any dog show accomplishments.
