I too agree with the fact that dog shows are corrupt. All this for a $.25 ribbon??? Where does that make any sense? It does nothing to enhance the sale of puppies as no one really cares.
I must say when I showed 20 odd years ago the shows were not so political or maybe I was just stupid. It seemed to me the people really liked the dogs and it was more about the dogs. The best dog does not always win but the judges were mostly breeders and they knew what they were looking at in a breed. I will defend Canada in that they love dog shows and mostly allow no nonsense and are on top of it. Any mis-behavior and they immediately stop the show and send the people away. They love the dogs. A fine dog is a fine dog and win or lose it is still a fine dog.I did most of my showing in Canada because it was fun and the people come out in droves to see a dog show. It is a family picnic day and everyone has a good time. Taz had a following there and I was not recognized as anyone other than I was with Taz. It put me in my place if ever my head got too big. I was known as Taz's mom and had no name of my own. It was wonderful.
