I want to start here by apoligizing for my recent absence. Between life/ work/ money/ and to many variables - I was letting it all get to me.
Over the last several days I have made it a priority to Stop letting forces that are beyond my control - control me!! I am taking back my own little piece and doing what I can for me and mine. I buy over 30 lbs a week of chicken. So ... Part of my plan is now raising Chickens!!!
As stated above money is short... as it is for all. After much planning and careful consideration - I can raise some of my own meat for much less than buying at the store! By doing this, I will have much healthier food for my family and in the process save a couple of bucks in process.
No - it will not end all my financial woes - but it will help.
I now have a small flock of hens and a couple of roosters I just aquired today. I have an inexpensive incubator that I have been working with. I have 2 dozen eggs started in my incubator that will be hatching in a couple of weeks.
The feed I use to raise them is nominal in cost. The effort I spend in raising, feeding, cleaning, and caring for them is Priceless. The learning experience my son is gaining is awesome.
The personal benefits here are to numerous to mention. But one of the biggest payoffs (in my opinion) by doing this - it is giving me peace of mind.
No - I cannot control what others do. But I refuse to allow others to control my peace!!
For what its worth here - the payoff will be so much more than I had ever hoped. I save my peace of mind, couple of bucks in process, give my children a foundation...
and enjoy the birds in the process
