When I posted the original post I was mad at myself for not doing my homework. This was not the breeders fault nor anyone elses.
This breeder had babies to sell and that was her goal. My personal goal is to buy birds that will meet my own goals in the end.... I plan on using their natural mothering abilities and qualities to raise other birds. Silkie eggs are to small for my personal use so I also plan on letting them set their own and selling the babies. For this goal, I wanted quality birds that were from "proven" lines and parentage. This would give me the additional advertising tag line of "these birds are from..." to help further my own goals.
My intent here was only to let you know that as a buyer... regardless of the commodity (dogs/birds/auto/appliances) do your own research and do what is right for you. If you are dealing with ethical or unethical you can learn this up front. Not after the fact. Learn the questions to ask for what you're looking at. Ignorance is a hard teacher and "I didn't know" won't hold a hand here...
